Open University Opportunities for research in the field of EAL/bilingualism are located in the Centre for Research in Education and Educational Technology, and specifically within the Applied Language and Literacies Research Unit. We focus on four main environments and their interfaces: Academic literacies/HE teaching and learning e.g. disciplinarity in academic writing; literacies and learning technologies; academic writing and diversity (including English as an additional/global language of education). University of York Opportunities for research in the field of EAL/bilingualism are located in the Department of Education Studies. Research degrees on offer: MA IN Education Studies, MA in Language, Learning and Education and MA by Research, MPhil/PhD. A new MA in TESOL is being developed for October 2005. The Educational Research Group at www.york.ac.uk/depts/edu/erg "promote and support research in schools and other educational institutions". The newly formed Language Research group welcomes contact with other institutions and students interested in work at PhD level.
