Research |
ResearchThis area enables teacher educators, teachers and researchers to access a wide range of research related to learning English as an Additional Language (EAL). It highlights seven major research issues concerning EAL as a field of education and provides access to key research findings. It also draws attention to recent and ongoing research projects and studies in the U.K. that relate to the experiences of bilingual pupils learning EAL, from the social and linguistic context of learning to issues of classroom pedagogy. The studies highlighted are all relevant to the preparation of student teachers for working in multilingual classrooms and support the development of a research based profession. The section also provides access to EAL research centres and databases, journal and publications and provides information concerning possible sources of funding to support EAL related research. The final section gives details of institutions which offer post-graduate courses, research degrees and supervision in the field of EAL, bilingualism and related areas of study.
