EAL in context: pedagogy, learner identity
and race equality.
NALDIC held its 9th Annual Conference on November 17th 2001 at
the University of Birmingham. The theme of the conference
was EAL in context: pedagogy, learner identity and race equality.The
keynote speaker was Professor Jim Cummins from the University of
Toronto who inspired the 300 conference participants with his presentation "What
am I doing here? The role of Teacher and Pupil Identity in Developing
English Academic Proficiency" challenging
them to examine their role in the classroom. The conference
also featured afternoon seminars led by
