The National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum (NALDIC) is the UK professional body for all those interested in raising the achievement of bilingual pupils with English as an Additional Language. NALDIC was inaugurated in 1993 and since its formation has acted as the voice of the profession. It provides a professional forum for:
Teaching and learning of English as an Additional Language
Supporting bilingualism
Raising the achievement of ethnic minority learners
The development and understanding of this field of education

What are NALDIC's aims?
NALDIC seeks to build on proven, sound professional policies and practices and uphold bilingual pupils' entitlement to full curriculum access, appropriate EAL provision and first/home language development. NALDIC aims to:
Promote the development of policy, practice and research
Disseminate information on current developments in language across the curriculum
Draw on the thinking and practice of colleagues working with bilingual learners of all ages, both nationally and internationally.
Make representations to government bodies on educational issues affecting the teaching, learning and achievement of bilingual pupils.
Facilitate professional networking through regional and special interest groups and through working with other professional bodies

How much does it cost?
Annual membership costs £30 and is open to individuals and institutions. The NALDIC membership year runs from September. We offer a discounted part year membership rate of £15 to members joining between April 1st and July 31st. We also offer a retired members renewal rate of £20. Please let us know you have retired when you renew your membership.
Members Introductory Offer
From September 2007 we are offering an introductory rate for all new members. New members paying by direct debit can join at a reduced rate of £15. This introductory offer covers full membership from the time of joining to the next renewal date in September of each year. This offer is not available to institutions.
How do I join NALDIC?
Membership is open to anyone or any organisation professionally interested in working with pupils with English as an Additional Language. To join, please complete the application form. Your application will be forwarded to the membership administrator for processing. At busy times, processing may take three to four weeks.
