New research into the teaching of languages in primary schools released Jan 2010 

A new research report has been published which provides insights into the teaching of languages in primary schools. The researchers found that French was the most commonly taught language, followed by Spanish and German, and the majority of schools taught one language throughout Key Stage 2. There was minimal evidence of the teaching of other European or world languages. The research brief and report can be found here
