NALDIC is keen to work with all those responsible for the training of new teachers. In recent months, we have been working alongside the TDA to develop professional development modules for colleagues who are responsible for helping design and deliver programmes which will prepare new teachers for working with EAL and bilingual learners.
Building on our previous work in this area and the initial piloting of professional development modules in July 2011, we hosted a series of 3 professional network events. These took place across the regions in January and March 2012 and provided professional development for course developers and programme managers from HE institutions, training schools, SCITTs, EBITTs and other training providers.
We welcome expressions of interest in attending our events or joining our network from training course developers, curriculum and programme managers who are interested in developing their provision to ensure that their trainees can meet the new teacher standards in relation to EAL.
