ITE Network

iteday luton

NALDIC works with all those responsible for the training of new teachers through our ITE Network. The aim of the network is to provide professional support to organisations to develop high quality EAL initial teacher education provision.

We have been working alongside the TDA to develop professional development days for colleagues who are responsible for helping design and deliver programmes which will prepare new teachers for working with EAL and bilingual learners. Following the initial piloting of these professional development sessions in July 2011, the training materials are hosted within this dedicated area of our website.

Attendees at our ITE events are enrolled as network members and are encouraged to contribute materials developed in response to the professional development days. These may include ideas and action plans, best practice exemplars, reviews and resources.

These network resources are enriched with a range of highly practical EAL materials which NALDIC has developed specifically for tutors who are new to initial teacher training. These are available across the NALDIC site.

If you are responsible for designing programmes which prepare new teachers for working with EAL and bilingual learners in a school, SCITT, or HE institution and are interested in joining the network, contact us at ite@naldic.org.uk.
