Exciting opportunity for EAL co-ordinators and teaching assistants

In an exciting development NALDIC, in partnership with The Bell Foundation, is offering the opportunity for colleagues to benefit from two free EAL professional development courses during the week commencing 13th August 2012.

The first, a five day course, is for current (or aspiring) EAL co-ordinators who wish to further develop their EAL teaching and practice. This course is being made available at no charge by NALDIC with funding support from The Bell Foundation and will take place from 13th - 17th August 2012 in Cambridge. The course will be led by experienced tutors from NALDIC. It is intended for qualified teachers who have a lead role in co-ordinating teaching and provision for bilingual and EAL learners.

We will also be running a two day course for teaching assistants and HLTAs who specialise (or aspire to specialise) in EAL. This will take place on 15th-16th August 2012, also in Cambridge. It will be led by experienced tutors from NALDIC and aims to support teaching assistants and HLTAs to further develop their support of bilingual pupils. Again the course is being made available at no charge by NALDIC with funding support from The Bell Foundation

Places are limited to 20 on each course. We anticipate the courses being heavily oversubscribed so to avoid disappointment, book your place online now. Please note that as places on these free courses are strictly limited, if your application is successful and you fail to attend, you will be liable for the full commercial cost of the course. (£750 for EAL Coordinator course and £250 for the EAL Assistants course)

Both courses will take place at Bell Teacher Campus, Mary Allan Building, Homerton College, University of Cambridge, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 8PH. Bell Teacher Campus is held for eight weeks every summer, running two week specialist teacher training to teachers and teacher trainers from around the world. In 2011, over 800 teachers attended courses from over 20 countries. Accommodation is available to participants at £50 per night including breakfast and dinner. If you wish to book accommodation, please ensure that you download the accommodation booking form and return it directly to the contact on the booking form.
