NALDIC Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Interest Group meeting

The next meeting will be taking place on Tuesday February 18th from 4.00 to 7.00, at Boardroom, DG109, De Grey Court Building at York St. John University on the corner of Lord Mayor's walk and Gillygate. The event is very kindly hosted by the LIdIA research group at York St. John University.


The Theme is EAL in different contexts and presentations already include:
1. Hidden Stories Project Team at York St. John University:
Raising awareness of the variety of cultures and languages that exist in York.
2. Rita Kumar: EAL Consultant with Bradford Education
Understanding Bradford District - Population, diversity, community education.
3. Josephine Thomas: EAL Specialist Teacher at Selby Hub School for NYCC
Community celebration days - a multi agency approach to celebrating diversity and commonality.
4. Sarah Benito de Valle: Specialist EAL Teacher at Harrogate Hub School for NYCC
Promoting good practice within a range of educational settings (cross phase) by encouraging Senior Leadership Teams to set up appropriate induction packages for newly arrived ME pupils.
5. Dr. Rachel Wicaksono and Dr. Chris Hall: LIdIA research group at York St. John University
Questioning issues and ideologies related to 'Standard' English. The norms in a changing world and the implications for teachers.

Feel free to tell any colleagues who may be interested and contact Dianne if you are attending so that the university has an idea of numbers for seating and refreshments (provided by LIdIA)
